OK, sorry there’s been no new Rock Report for a couple O weeks but ya know, sometimes ya gotta shift and roll onto other things. Sure that’s unclear and that’s the way it’s going to be so if you don’t like it you know what to do. Laughing, OK seriously let’s get into it.
So the summers out, "See ya!" But as always we keep on. Of course there's that weird September lack of attendance at shows that occurs every year with the shift. Whatcha gonna do? For the past few weeks I’ve bee catching & playing my share of gigs but may have not been there both Fri & Sat nights on some weekends. Guess that shift got me too.
Picking up where we left off; on Sept 20th we did another Safari gig. I love that dive. We even got back to Fiddlers Green in Warwick on the 21st. Kevin Jr, and the crew down there are very cool and it was good to see Routine 8 back in full electric form with their new bass player Tom Purvis on board. Caught "Psycle" to. Missed Recore.
Apologies out to Kevin over at Cat’s again for the miss communicated Sept 27th night. Had no record of the night and then -- wham! -- saw us listed in The phoenix the night before. Sorry we couldn’t scramble quick enough. Well, we’re over it now anyway but that night was a little stressed out.
Last week Max's/Thayer St. saw the kick-off of the Satyr & Terry Fallon hosted monthly acoustic jam for the fall "return of the students" crowd. Thanks specifically out to the guys from Pray for Nothing, Patrick O’Shea (former/1st slugworth drummer) and Fasad from S.O.C. for swinging by. Fred Mossberg attended also and belted out some tunes. Know that the next one will be Nov 5th. You can’t go wrong with cheap beer specials and a free buffet!
Last weekend we hit The Living Room with Optic Lock, Routine 8 and Nocturnal Sun (thanks again for the shirts Jason). Mellow night (that end-of-summer/fall shift thing again) but we did our duty. Fuck it, I love to jam period. Brandon/Living Room Soundman was showing me some improvements in the sound system. It showed in the improved sound I heard while playing. That’s a big plus! To say the least, they needed it.
So, Donnybrook -- they’re in their new digs just north of Thayer St. on Hope, so I've been seeing more of them hanging on the T. Street these days. Now things are really going to go downhill in that neighborhood! They just don’t know what those Maine boys are capable of! And, sorry Carrion, but your new CD seems to be eternally lost in the Dbrook labyrinth. With the move and all, they’re still un-boxing crap so who knows when it’s going to show up.
OK, was out last night/Thurs 10-10, swung into Cat’s and caught Recore and the now "Cat’s infamous" Sasquatch and his Sick-a-Billies. Mike from 3 Speed Amplifier opened it up. Another gig brought to us by the lovely Jillian Vaitkevicius a tour de force local music lover, organizer, booker and supporter. Most of the Jiya gang was hanging out too and Gregory of Dub Squad was in the house. The incomparable Kris Hansen was doing the soundman guru duties. Thanks to Kevin the Cat’s Club proprietor for the usual hospitalities.
Advance show news... on the 19th at The Station Kevin down there has put together and all day band blow-out (I love a good blow out!). We/Slugworth will be on at like 10:00 PM. I’m still waiting for the complete line-up. I know there’s no real need to buy advance tickets per usual for a local music event seeing as they rarely sell out but know that I have them so feel free when you see me or call, etc. I’m sure the music starts around mid-afternoon.
Some new favorite band names... you gots a whole bunch this week. I always get a kick out of funny/cool band names like: Crabby Appleton, Stupor Bowl Champs, Aluminum Android Sucker, Fungus Amungus, Autism with Wasteform, Anal Blast, Lust of Decay and Suffering Bastard.
I think Anal Blast takes it. |

Satyr, the madman behind Slugworth, used to regularly publish an email known as his "Local Rock Report". It was frequently informative, always mis-typed, and chock full o Satyr's wisdom. Satyr has since moved on to other pastures, and we have archived some of his Rock Reports here so future generations may bask in the glow. |
