Attention "crazed rock fan":I'm sick of you cluttering my E-mail with your heavily biased opinions about the so called "Providence Rock Scene". I'm not interested in any of the R.I. scumbag rock bands that you present to me. You call bands like tripwire hardcore when it is not. Just because music has heavy, thick guitar and fast, furious drumming, it does not make it hardcore.Hardcore is something that can not be understood by these bands you push on me,and is apparently not understood by you neither. It is an attitude,a lifestyle, a way of thinking that opposes anything that would ever approach mainstream, something that these bands are not. If you have any info on good bands from R.I.,(i.e. As The Sun Sets, etc.)I would appreciate that. When you throw around the word "hardcore" you get away with it because most of the people that go to your bands shows do not know the true meaning of the word. Also "Satyr",that piece of shit,is also a scumbag and I don't appreciate seeing the E-mail address of that Kurt Cobain wannabee on my computer screen. Please don't send me anything with his name on it again. GRUNGE IS DEAD,STOP LIVING IN THE 90'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Love,Adam SwaggerBass player for Our Final Chapter

P.S.-crazed rock fan-maybe you should take a few writing classes before you startbeing a journalist. You're sentence structure id very rudimentary and often words in your past entries have been misspelled.(just trying to save you some embarrassment)

Dear beloved crazed rock fan,I first want to thank you on starting your column that gives people some incite on local bands. I also would like to thank you for your support of Tripwire. It means a great deal to us that you have come to our shows and written so highly of us. It's nice to see that there's still some people out there who know the true meaning of hardcore. Which is what I am responding to.It has been brought to my attention that there is a person out there that has some beef with the Providence scene. The bass player from the band OUR FINAL CHAPTER has some interesting things to say about it. I'm not going to try and start a war or anything, but I do have a few choice words to say to him. Who the hell are you to distinguish what is truly hardcore or not. Hardcore is type of music that comes strait from the heart and it's meaning cannot be compromised. It is one thing to not want to hear about other local bands but to bad mouth them and the whole entire scene is a mistake. I just hope for your sake that you have not burned your bridges by making such remarks. Bands like TRIPWIRE{who do have some hardcore roots} and SLUGWORTH aren't trying to be 100% hardcore, 100% alternative, or 100% anything. There trying to write music that is true to them. And that is the true meaning of hardcore.I hope that this message reaches him and has had shed some light on a not so confusing subject. I also wanted to remind people that if they know any drummers who like to play truly original/hardcore music, please contact the crazed rock fan or thetripwire@hotmail.com. Also please remember that the crazed rock fan report is all about supporting local music. Please be more considerate to what the person is trying to accomplish in this report. If you don't want to know about other local bands then just tell this person that you want don't want to hear about it anymore.love always Trip's singer, Pual

And always be true to yourself.

CRF response: Thanks for the reply and support. We appreciate your thoughts.

I am not interested in your feedback. You are crazed about something -maybe yourself and your own opinions. When I signed up for the Tripwire email list I did not sign up for the "Satyr worshipping club" or the "join the freaks who like their idea of hardcore bands". So find someone else to follow -I am not a follower and never will be!

ThanksGood Bye!!!!

CRF response: It isn't our feedback it is public feedback. We just allow people to use this circulating email to share more info. All the info on this circular is sent in by viewers. These are not my opinions! This is a message board where we post stuff that people send in.That is what a message board is!

******************

Crazed Rock Fan:I love the way you try to crucify me for expressing my opinion. You send my E-mail to all these people on your list in hopes of devastating me, or is it because, sadly, it is the only interesting thing you can come up with to send?I have no idea who you are,but I can tell that your opinion is biased because you would not try to hurt me in such a way as this if it was not. This totally goes against what your disclaimer says about being unbiased, therefore you are a liar and I am just someone expressing an honest opinion.I don't know how I got on your E-mail list in the first place, but obviously you did not honor my request to stop sending me E-mails.You don't get it-I don't care and there are many others-R.I or not, that will not care either. There are also many others,I'm sure, who feel the same way as I do.I can tell from your actions that you want to hurt me so badly for having an opinion that differs from yours, and not accepting your force-fed E-mails and music. This country is built on freedom of choice and I am demonstrating that right.I'm sorry if I don't bring you the satisfaction you were looking for.Since you can not honor my requests, you have been blocked from my E-mail.

CRF response: we are not sure how we crucified you, you sent feedback and it posted like all the feedback is. This circulating email is for people to send feedback of music, bands and other correlating information, and opinions. By all means express your opinion that is what this is all about.

Just curious, I like your enthusiasm and all, but why do you keep calling yourself a "real fan." You're a real fan compared to whom? Journalists? College kids? Other musicians? I like reading your stuff, but I'm not sure why you need to distinguish yourself as being on this "real" crusade.

CRF response: Well we know that the real fans are the ones who pay the 6 bucks to go to a show, 15 bucks on a t-shirt, 20 bucks on the album and hang the posters on the wall. The real fans do because they want to. We are just promoting a place to express the true fans opinions.

Totally agree. The reason why I asked because as a music journalist I often have to go and cover shows that I don't necessarily want to attend, then I have to write about them. When I review them, I often don't want to be too critical because most local bands try REALLY hard to be good and try hard to be entertaining. For me to take the piss out of them when they're doing their best, well, it doesn't seem fair. You know? But I do think it's good for you to get the word out, an honest word.

Thanks, and keep in touch.

Hello crazed rock fan,I have sent in two band reviews to you. You posted both of them. I didn’t want to put my name on them but it seems as though that was probably a mistake. I will address all of them in the future so any comments can be directed to the one doing the writing. I think that it was one of my reviews that used the word “hardcore”. It has been brought to my attention that it was not used correctly. Actually I think that the context for which I was using it was different than the context in which Adam Swagger thought I was using it. I was using hardcore as a representation for the passion. Calling Tripwire hardcore was in the sense that they are passionate about their music. Sorry for the misunderstanding! I do want to thank the people who do this circulating E, my review was picked up by an online mag and that is cool. Keep letting people spread the word and voicing their opinions. Adam commented that there wasn’t any reviews on other bands so I hope that other people send theirs in as well. Thank you for giving me the oppurtunity to share with other people the bands I think are cool.

Tara Swagger

OK, now I’ve got your E. Cool. Saw your show review on Rattlehead’s In on theWhat but didn’t have your return E.Wow what a case Our final Chapter’s Bass is. Number 1 people with comments like that fall into my classification of completely immature. The content of his E is puzzling and ridiculous. I do nothing but help the scene in a positive manner so I don’t know where the “piece of shit” and “scumbag” comes from. Those types of expressions are usually reserved for people who doosh people over, etc.As far as the “grunge” comments, etc. Whatever on that. Who cares what kind of music style someone is making. Is O.F.C. out to reinvent the wheel? If they are then they’re certainly not yet and I don’t claim to either. I make simple melodic hard rock songs that have been around for decades even before Kurt Cobain. For anyone to even get all worked up about that is a waste of time and is obviously that persons way of dealing with their own feelings of inadequacy or jealousy, etc etc some other neurosis. I don’t even give those people the time of day and it’s funny to watch them try to sling shit around when they don’t realize that people know me and that I’ve been involved in doing good for over 10 years on the Providence music scene. Erroneous stupid words like this really only end up hurting the author.Anyway, enough wasted breath on that fucking silliness. Good to connect with you and let’s keep up the positive progress for the local original rock scene.Terrible news about Donnybrook huh.

-satyrius / slugworth

CRF-response: thanks for the response. We did not want to post that on the feedback line. We have too however post all of the feedback whether we like it or not. The whole point of the feedback line is to share thought and opinion and I cannot censor that. Thanks for the response

What the hell is going on how come people are getting so mad about an email!!!!!!

Its just a public forum for voicing your opinion no one is forcing any ideals or religion. People need to relax.

-JSL

CRF response: I agree.

Crazed rock fan I think that this is a really great place to share stuff about music. It seems like more and more people are getting involved with advertising and vocalizing that is really awesome. I hope more people like Adam share their opinions because that is what keeps things alive and diverse. Keep motivating crazed rock fans it is a great outlet for people.

Another crazed rock fan, Jesse Mathieu

CRF response: thanks keep sharing
