And now let’s see what was do’n for the past couple of weekends in local rock as I saw it. To close out March I hit The Green Room on that Friday night for the Severed, T-House of the Almighty, Mutha Ugly and SOC show. Good time. Actually finally got a chance to absorb Mutha Uglies set. Talented musicians, great tunes. Had some good talk with them after their set too. SOC had a fun tech kick-off where we tried to decipher some glitch in DJ Thrill’s rig that was impeding the output. No biggie though, got it going. The bigger deal was SOC hearing themselves onstage. Face it SOC’s sound level delivery is pretty fucking huge. It was OK for the fans but the monitors onstage just can’t deal so they were pretty frustrated at that.

Terry Fallon, Jenn Kitten & I hosted the 1st Tue of every month acoustic Open Mic thing at Maxs on Thayer St. we do on 2-4. Special mention/thx out to Julie Manso and Diablo/Sasquatch for coming out. Special mention to Spogga too for coming by. What a rendition of Hotel Cali for those drunk girls. Good times.

Last last Saturday Feb 1st was our/Slugworth’s new drummer premier at The Living Room with Routine 8, Floodwaters and Jesus Candy. Thanks out to Jesus Candy for hosting the gig (great guys). So of course if it’s not 2 degrees out it’s raining/snowing/mix and it was a little bit of all that that night. Kills the draw but I stick it out regardless. Special thanks out to Julie Manso (who is doing band photos now big time [see below]), Seth & Tara Swagger and Nadia for coming down.

Moving along to last weekend. Let’s see, ahhh yes, caught John Tierney at The Met and that’s always a good time with great sounds. Popped into AS220 to. Haven’t been in there in a while. Such a cool place.

Last Saturday was a tremendously successfully show on the draw that Jamie with Routine 8 set up at the cool Cat’s Club in Pawtucket. Jesus Candy, Sulfur, slugworth, Routine 8 and Freakshow. We all had a pisser time even with the small fight that broke out. Hardly anyone noticed though because Kevin and his competent staff put the smack down on it in an eye blink. You don’t want to mess with them. Hello, it is after all, "The Bucket." After that was an all night abuse of indulgence that, to protect the innocent, names and details cannot be revealed. Damn that was crazy.

And so I’ll wrap the Look Back with this Wednesday just past over at The Met we did a gig with friends Letdown, The Glory Hole and Jenn Kitten. Hell, for a cold Wed night not a bad little turn out. Good time regardless we always manage to have. Good to see old friends Mattrock and Brian P. too. Thanks for Freakshow crewmembers Mike H. & Rick for hanging out (even though Mike had to split early) and very cool to see Fasad/SOC stop in for our set. Thank you very much.

Well it appears Hired Goonz is on hold due to various scheduling/school commitments & stuff. For a while it looks like, but I’m hoping they’ll be back in the summer. Al from H.G. of course has been keeping bizy with his new front-vocal duties to Joel’s band, Proper Logic (tonight at The Green Room (10:45) and of course both of those dudes were in GTA/Ill Frequency.

The countdown is underway for Freakshow to head out to Cali. They’ll be splitt’n beginning of May. We’ll actually have a really cool send-off gig with them April 19th/Sat at The Lucky Dog in Worcester (which is a big Prov/Worc band battle type thing and I still am taking bands down who are interested in getting on that).

Jess/Betty Finn is on the outs from her side gig in Radio Wallpaper. Ya know, too much. Cool that Mike Charpentier former Freakshow bass is stepping in to fill the low-end gap. Cool. They’ll be playing with us on 2-22/Sat. at The Green Room. Welcome back, Mike.

Freakshow does have a new 3 song disc out also. Check it out.

OK, can we please get into the weekend now? Good.

Last Saturday we slid back into the cool New Wave out in New Bedford (www.newwavecafe.net) by way of invite from Baylies Band (thank you) and had the usual good time. Before heading back to the city we caught Humbuck who we’ve played with at The Safari before. Cool guys. The drummer is particularly mental (of course)...

Coming in at furious angle. Yes, I am on the local music move. Shit, after last night, that was tough being near a TV, you can only take so much 911 remembrance without getting pissed and down all at once. Especially when they bring out the kids.

Satyr, the madman behind Slugworth, used to regularly publish an email known as his "Local Rock Report". It was frequently informative, always mis-typed, and chock full o Satyr's wisdom. Satyr has since moved on to other pastures, and we have archived some of his Rock Reports here so future generations may bask in the glow.
