The Diggla is very happy. Those of you that know the Diggla know that a room full of young lovelies watching a show is what makes local music worthwhile to me. I've seen a lot of shows lately with a bunch of loud bands and sweaty guys standing around drinking beer. Now most Rattlehead shows i've seen lately have had a signifcant babe factor, but tonight is like manna from heaven. Da big G is smilin down on da Diggla for sure.

Tonight I'm at Have you Seen This Cat #3 at the infamous Century Lounge. And right next door is the Call to Action CD Release party at the Century's older sister, The Call. And both these shows for some reason have become babe magnets. The Century side is the show I've been sent to cover, but I've been crossing back and forth all night. I'll tell ya about the Century first.

Rebecca Nurse is this cool punkish thing that goes well with hash and shrooms. Doesn't get all nasty in yo face as much as it does make you smile. And the chick singer is da bomb. She had the shiny jeans and combat boots on; a diggla favorite. The only downside was the white t-shirt, "who farted". What's up with that? Might da diggla suggest a sporty spaghetti strap tank top with the words, "foxy" stitched across... Da Diggla would say yes. Work it baby, its all good.

Optic Lock was a name I'd heard before, but never seen. They have a sound I can't describe exactly. Its basic rock, and I think it'd probably appeal to the Sammy Halen fans over the Dave Halen ones, if that makes sense. Me, i dont listen to Halen much anymore (especially Gary Halen), so I'm da wrong Diggler to ask. But they were definitely on top o things and the crowd was into them, so I can't complain. Solid props to the Optic Lock.

Michelle from Emery Vesch was just nominated this week for Best Female vocalist in the 2003 Phoenix Best Music Poll, along with Melody from Object Permanence... so this is a crazy doubleheader in a weird way. But this proves that this was already a good bill and now just more people know about it. Not that that means there's more people here, this is Rhode Island after all.

Emery Vesch is steamin' tonight. Some new songs from a new album, and a voice that sends chills. The rest of the band ain't lacking in the least... they provide a slamming backdrop. They did this Tool cover that completely blew me away. The musicianship and the voice were right on.

Object Permanence has been on my mind since the Blackstone gig with the Mockingbirds last month. Da lady is mesmerizin in all the ways Biggie meant. And the lady has got a great voice, but the best part is when she talks in between and her voice is a little rough from singing. Ggggrufff! The music is tight and solid, leaving much to boogie to.

Now next door was a different score slightly. I caught bits of Vic Foley, Jim James Band, Some Weird Band, and Fungus Amungus. All turned in awesome performances, but the real story was the babefest. More chicks than da diggla could shake a stick at. I don't know what the deal was, most of them seemed "unattached" and of the late 20's office girl type all dressed for success and upward mobility. Not the sleazy clubby girls down the street, office foxes for sure. Makes da diggla want to give some rigorous dictation. (Sorry.)

But that's my report, i hopa ya liked; diggla out.

Y'all know that when da Diggla needs to find the top shelf honeys, he goes to the Mastamindz. An that's not the only reason to come down to the show tonight. Four o the best bands are playing right now... Immune, The Stereobirds (with the smokin hot Heather Rose), Immune, M-80, and Mastamindsz (of course). Whatta craaazy night. That's a too much Tequila wake up on the bathroom floor kinda show. M-freakin'-80. Thats all I gotta say, right? Holy crap.
