And now back to our...

Yes I know I’ve been putting the R.R. out once every 2 weeks for the last 2 but come on, the dragging winter & all that and besides shut up, you do it every week.

OK, from the front lines of actually being at the shows (yes, a knock, go to the shows it says when you exercise insight to read between my subtly blunt lines) here’s where I’ve been.

I remember I was at The Living Room most all rainy (then stopped) Fri night for the Kris Hansen (The Problem/L.R. sound) & Gregory (Also former I think or from time to time L. Room sound) sponsored Station Beni. Cool jazz rock bands opened. Ummm, looking thru new contact info,Bonnis Herd, right, talked to Peter (I think) for a while. They used to play The Station a lot. New band Bubble Effect). 1st show. Profess musicians though. Donny Brook did their new (and it is a new sound for them, like it, don’t like whatever there’s plenty of music to go around and you can’t get down on anyone for try’n different things I say) thang of course and Hansen’s The Problem wrapped with their continuing rock evolution with some cool guest spots to. Sorry Kris I bolted thru half your set (Shit I was there from 9:30) if you were look’n for me to do some backing.

Want some of that K. Bacon 7 degrees of separation shit that night. Gett’n it anyway. The Problems bass is JJ’s, former Screaming Under Star’s, sax playa’s bro and JJ used to be in S.U.S. with a Bonnis Herd member (who is that?). Funny. There’s a lot of that.

So the weekend before, I dunno, oh yeah, we/slugworth did Fiddler’s with Nocturnal Sun (thanks again for the gig) and Hemlock. Ya know Fidd’s is under new ownership and they were hard at work do’n renovations that night. Make sure you get down and introduce. I know some already have. They’re gonna move the stage to back where the pool tables are. Not a bad idea. Anyway it was a cool night. The guys from Nocturnal sun are pretty dysfunctional/mental. Cool to hang out with over beers & whiskey. By the time they hit the stage people were pretty buzzed and they came on with a volatile attack of good late night smashed unpredictable rock. I was pretty wiped at that point from the day before so at that point I wasn’t focusing like I should’ve been but for a good thing they kept me awake. Hemlock opened and were a good opening tight musician presence. We did our thing. Gotta calm myself sometimes. Ya know, a rock ‘n’ roll night is bizarre mostly.

I know I swung by Cat’s last last weekend I believe. Check it out, Kevin/Cat’s is continually stocking in the sound system (lot’s of cool new toys), better than ever sound. Upstairs will be open soon. Work’n at it. Proper Logic played that night with Side Project and another (?). Was in and out quick so didn’t catch much of the bands but ya know I try and get around to it so shut up.

What else? Oh right, Jesus Candy and Routine 8 at The Safari. Cool. If you haven’t been lately check The Safari out. Knock’n stuff down, new sound equip. Very cool. I love it. I can get really strange there.

And maybe that was all of it.

News? Always some but some you can’t maybe yet talk about until checked OK to release. We’re finally gett’n outta the winter. Just book the best bills possible and get the fuck to the shows and have a good time. Shit.

Rattlehead is prep’n for another clandestine event not to far off.

Will be back to better weekend (and that’s my four-tay) coverage on gigs once I get my winter depression curve under control as we now head into the very needed change in season.

Last Saturday we slid back into the cool New Wave out in New Bedford (www.newwavecafe.net) by way of invite from Baylies Band (thank you) and had the usual good time. Before heading back to the city we caught Humbuck who we’ve played with at The Safari before. Cool guys. The drummer is particularly mental (of course)...

Coming in at furious angle. Yes, I am on the local music move. Shit, after last night, that was tough being near a TV, you can only take so much 911 remembrance without getting pissed and down all at once. Especially when they bring out the kids.

Satyr, the madman behind Slugworth, used to regularly publish an email known as his "Local Rock Report". It was frequently informative, always mis-typed, and chock full o Satyr's wisdom. Satyr has since moved on to other pastures, and we have archived some of his Rock Reports here so future generations may bask in the glow.
