The Zoggin Music Festival isnt a festival at all. its more like a series of shows put on by Rattlehead in the garden patio behind Cafe Zog all throughout the summer. Im not sure about the other lineups, but the one I saw had spiney norman and dagnabbit.
Spiney Norman impressed the hell out of me. I'd never seen or heard of them before, but they were an amazing group of musicians. Well rehearsed and a great sense of dynamics, both in their writing and performance. The guitarist told a great story about turning down a record deal. Talk about major labels treating musicians like shit... its a great story, but too long to put here.
Dagnabbit is the strangest name for a band I've seen in a while. for some reason, I was thinking country and western (both kinds), but that wasnt it at all. They were playing a stripped down set without two members, but that was perfect for this patio area. They were kinda Dave Matthews mixed with Bare Naked Ladies mixed. But I swear to God, one of the funniest things I've ever seen at a show was during the last song. Dagnabbit was closing with Comfortably Numb, and an audience member (drunk? high?) began singing along, finally screaming so loud and out of key at one point that everyone there laughed, and it threw dagnabbit off for a bit.
