| ey All- It is with pleasure that I announce Heather Rose and JenMurdza will perform at Brooklyn Coffee Tea House in Providence thisFriday night, 8-10pm. In a bit of poetic justice, Heather and Jenwere scheduled to play Brewed Awakenings LAST April---the VERY WEEKthat venue abruptly "pulled the plug." We don't give up that easily ... . Jen and Heather, two of my favorite professional working musiciansin the Northeast, both carved out impressive careers includingtelevision appearances, live shows and innovative onlinenetworking/marketing. They blaze trails and inspire new musiciansuploading their first myspace song----And, de rigueur these days, theycross over to other genres, giving audience variety and highentertainment value. Heather, when not bringin her band "The Drama," still works thestage, never losing energy or audience. And she can sing---in a voicestrong enough to occasionally back off the mic and let her voicecarry, not amplified, through the room. A force of nature, I make apoint to seek out her shows, wherever she is . . . at Fado, theBlackstone, even the Penalty Box ! Jen, a Boston shining star, blends soul and blues over a dynamicrhythm guitar. The pop ballad suits her well too. The song "Here,"from her first album, is as fine-crafted a pop song as I've heard. She's also another vocal powerhouse, so no mumbling. Jen does regularTV appearances on Fox 25 in Boston. My mom has seen her ! Please check both of their web/mypace sites below. You'll see whatI mean (both are on my ipod !). PS-The Brooklyn "quick pick" performer Friday is Michael Schoenfrom New York City, and comes highly recommended by Tony Demmings,Brooklyn owner (barista and all around artist) who keeps music keepingon, God bless him. Prompt start at 8-get there early, doors open7:15. I'll host and get out of the way. Stop by and say hi, best,frankps-this (my) mailing list is a bit fluid . . . but to optout/change/get less, reply w/remove or prefs--thanks, frank----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------RISA original ACOUSTIC folk music-----FIRST AND THIRD fridaysBrooklyn Coffee Tea House 209 douglas ave. providence, RI 02908401-575-2284admission is free 8-10pm fill the hatFRIDAY NOVEMBER 16--HEATHER ROSE / JEN MURDZA / MICHAEL SCHOENhttp://www.myspace.com/HeatherRoseRockshttp://www.myspace.com/jmurdzahttp://www.myspace.com/michaelschoenhost:frank martynhttp://www.myspace.com/frankmartynhttp://www.brooklyncoffeeteahouse.com"If you know me, you know what I mean"--Tom Waits, "Frank's Wild Years"http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Brooklyn%20Coffee%20Tea%20House+Providence+RIhttp://www.brooklyncoffeeteahouse.com/directions Directions From NorthTake I-95 S to Providence RITake the Charles St exit 23Bear right onto Charles StTurn left at first set of lights onto Admiral StTurn left at next set of lights onto Whipple StTurn right at top of hill onto Douglas Ave Brooklyn is on your right.NOTE: DOUGLAS AVE IS SORT OF BEHIND STATE HOUSE ON SMITH HILL, NEARMARRIOTT, STICKYFINGERS AND FOXY LADY (EVERYONE KNOWS THE FOXY LADY ... .)Directions From SouthTake I-95 N to Providence RITake Exit 23 State Offices exitTurn right at Orms StreetBear first right onto Douglas AveBrooklyn is one half mile on your right. |
