friday june 6 the low anthem with jacqueline bartlett 60 feet of stupid (brooklyn pick)
LOW ANTHEM-"the low anthem" brings a transcendent-theatrical-songwriting-performance-art to folk music. tom waits/damien rice introspection mixed with atmospheric texture conjure a world in which to wander. (note: you won't find this show on their website---the band has outgrown these small, intimate "pass the hat" gigs, so we decided to keep it "on the down low.")
jacquie bartlett continues to surprise with intuitive and insightful songwriting behind her lovely and wholesome presence. she brings trappings of daily life and love with harmonically pleasing and moving emotional beauty.
60 Feet of Stupid defy description, taking on complex isssues, Molly's big vocal and Joe's rhythm guitar--into a kind of postmodern "tuck and patti" lounge stadium--don't be surprised to see them at the Living Room or the Marriott Hotel.
